Would you consider a T-Rex the dinosaur of all dinosaurs? Like a king? They are bigger than most dinosaurs and can easily fend for themselves and others easily! Well who ever created the epithet for the Tyrranosaurus Rex probably had in mind that the T. Rex is the king Dino of them all.
Oedipus Rex written in 441 BC is based off of a man Oedipus escaping prophecy promised to him by a blind prophet Tiresias. Oedipus was doomed since he was born, his parents trying to avoid the prophecy, sent baby Oedipus to die on a hill. A sheperd took Oedipus to the hill but didn't have the heart to let him die. Oedipus' parents believing he had died lived happily for years. Oedipus had been living with the king and queen of Corinth. When Oedipus got wind of prophecy claiming he was to kill his father and sleep with his mother, he left Corinth as quick as he could. He came to the town of Thebes where he killed a man for thinking he was nobler than Oedipus. The man wanted to pass on the bridge but Oedipus, decreeing he was nobler killed the man for wanting to pass first. That man was Laius. His father. Oedipus past the bridge to Thebes which was guarded by a sphinx since the king was going on a pilgrimage, Laius. The sphinx gave Oedipus a riddle which he answered correctly. The sphinx then killed herself since she promised she would do so if he guessed her riddle. Oedipus was then considered the newest king for solving the riddle. He married the widowed queen Jocasta. They lived in prosperity and had many children. A blind prophet named Tiresias tried to make Oedipus aware of the prophecy but he wouldn't listen. Creyon, Jocasta's brother too tried to tell him what was happening but he wouldn't listen. Oedipus finally got the sense to ask someone about the prophecy. He was starting to understand he probably killed his father. And if this was true he too slept with his mother and had children. He forced the sheperd to tell him the truth and that he did. He explained he didn't kill Oedipus because he had a heart to save his life. Hearing this Jocasta became sickened and went to her bedroom, hanging herself after she confirmed the news. Her son/lover walked into the room to see his wife hanging and he stabbed his eyes out.
