Quote: "The bear did not enjoy his role as an entertainer anymore" father said."he was just going through the motions. And the only person or animal or thing he loved was that motorcycle." (Pg. 4)

-This quote was said by Win berry the narrator's father.
-This what was said during the beginning of the book. Also considered the rising action.
-The quote was said in order to indicate the feeling of the bear because the bear had been in show business for a long time. The only thing the bear love more was the motorcycle.

-I selected the "in order to indicate to the reader that the characters in the story do believe that not only is the bear an entertainer but his feelings are equivalent to a human being's in the sense that the bear loves an inanimate object such as the motorcycle.
-Rhetorical devices: Personification and Allusions to animals who are entertainers.
-As we know bears cannot talk cannot sing cannot do the basic every day uses of language humans use. But in this case "State o' Maine" can entertain a group of people by dancing and he often calls out the name "Earl".
-The bear acts as an allusion to all animals who entertain a group of people whether that's by dancing or singing or driving a motorcycle.
- Analysis portion: This quote acts as foreshadowing by telling the reader that the Bear no longer wants to entertain and all he's worried about is his motorcycle. So to the reader this is conveyed as, the bear will soon stop entertaining because he is tired of living the show business life.
-What will happen to the bear?
-Will he truly stop entertaining?
-Why does this bear have such an emotional attachment to the motorcycle?
